WBC Prompt 3

So the weather outside is frightful. What are doing to enjoy being inside?

It gets very cold here in PA in the winter. We've been snowed in quite a few times in the past. We always make sure we have plenty of DVD's, books to read, coloring books for the kids, snacks and hot chocolate!

My Favorite Book

This has always been the easiest question for me to answer. I Hmm and Haaww if you ask me favorite color, scent, animal, any of that stuff. Ask me what my favorite book is and I have the answer fast and easy. This was one of the first chapter books I read and I just remember being so fascinated by this story. the Murry and O' Keefe families became like my second families, I read this book so many times. The sci fi aspect was so out of my "norm".  Now I read a lot of sci fi and fantasy and I truly feel it's this book that inspired that for me.

Getting Into The Christmas Spirit!

Well in 24 days Christmas will be upon us.  Alan and I are big kids, so we couldn’t wait for Thanksgiving to arrive so that we could decorate our home for the holidays.  We even finished Christmas shopping by Halloween!  I don’t like the crazy crowds or fighting them on Black Friday.  So while the world shops, we decorate!  The only ones that waited were for charity, I’m really big on doing for others, so when I heard about this little boy losing his mother two months ago I decided I’d be his Santa this year.  His mom passed away giving birth to his twin sisters.  My heard broke when I heard this and just wanted him to see he’s not alone in this world, even strangers care.

We have an entire Christmas Village that fills up a 48” card table.  Thirteen houses, two of which are bookstores, and of course no village would be complete without Santa’s Workshop :-D  Then of course a wreath and every window in the apartment has lights.  I collect snowmen, I have 4 new ones this year.  Alan collects nutcrackers, so to even the playing field we now by equal amounts.  He also LOVES the Miami Dolphins and so far we’ve been able to get one Miami Dolphin ornament each year.  This year I got him a Miami Dolphins Nutcracker ornament!  I love fairies and angels, so I have a new stained glass angel ornament, she’s playing a violin.  No matter what angels win, I’m on the treetop!  So here are my two questions:

1.             Do you collect anything Christmas?  If so, what?

Winter Blog Challenge Post 1

What is your favorite way to welcome in the winter/holiday season?

Our holiday spirit officially kicks in when we put our tree up! Our tree doesn't look that gorgeous though lol. But our boys love to decorate and pick stuff out to put on the tree. They get excited about Christmas music and write letters to Santa =] We pull out all the sweaters and boots and stuff that goes along with the cold weather and snow. And then it does snow and we start whining and saying when will summer be here LOL.

Favorite Subject/Music Monday

Today's prompt is What was your favorite subject in school?

I also really wanted to do Music Monday...

So lucky for me I found a way to combine them lol

My favorite subject in school was History...

I loved reading about and learning about the past and seeing pictures of how different things were "back in the day" lol One of my favorite times to read about is the civil war...

One of my new FAVORITE songs is by a band called FUN...and their video for my favorite song right now falls in with the History theme =]

Favorite Teacher

Today's question is who was your favorite teacher...

I hated math in school...any and all kinds of math lol. However my junior year math teacher was one of my favorite teachers...go figure lol. As much as I hated the math, he made the class fun and made it easy to understand. I actually managed to learn and understand a  lot that year.

Stove Top Mac and Cheese

The question of the day is what is your favorite go to recipe...

Ours is our stove top mac and cheese...we got it from a friend when we were down in FL. It's so cheap and easy and the boys love it. 

All you need...

Pound of pasta

1/2 Block of Velveeta or store brand cheese

Milk

Butter

All you do...

Boil the pasta in a large enough pan

Drain

Lower heat

Cut up and add cheese, milk and butter

Let cheese melt and stir

Done!

You can add anything you want to it like different cheeses, vegetables, even chicken or sausage

 Of course my boys have to be gross (to me anyways lol) and smother it with ketchup lol

My Favorite Thing About Autumn

My favorite thing about the Autumn months are numerous...

I like the cooler, but not yet freezing, change in weather because I like shopping for pretties like these...

I love the change of the color of the leaves...we live in a rural mountainous area so we get some absolutely gorgeous scenery up here

And I love October! It's our favorite month here. The boys get to go pumpkin picking and do the carving with daddy and then at the end of the month they get to dress up and get candy!

Migraines

I’m not sure how many of you suffer from migraines, but I sure do.  My triggers…constant loud noises, like a group of motorcycles riding by or better yet when our neighbor upstairs  turns on his home theater and we can hear it down here, the reverb just about kills me.  The latest are storm clouds and stormy weather.  Unfortunately, Florida rains A LOT, so I tend to have frequent migraines.  My fiancé calls it “raindar”.  If I feel crappy and it’s partly cloudy, you can bet it’s going to get worse!  I’ve been on Topamax and Imitrex,  but nothing works 100% so I figure I’ll have to live with it.  What meds have you tried?

Labyrinth!!!

Hands down didn't even have to think about it LOL And can you blame me? I mean look at him!! This was definitely during his yummy stage =] I don't know what it is about this movie, except David Bowie of course, but from the first time I watched it I've been absolutely ADDICTED! I think the make up and effects were so amazing and cutting edge for movies at that time. I still watch this movie every chance I get and my 7 yr old and 4 yr old boys love it too. Thank goodness its on Netflix right now lol I literally wore out the dvd of it that I bought a few years ago =]

Favorite 15 minutes of the day

What is your favorite 15 minute period of the day...

I love my kids I truly do, would not give them up for anything in the world. My husband works a 4am-2pm shift at work so I get to get up with the boys at the ass crack of dawn every day of the week but Sunday and Monday. My favorite time of the day is actually at night when they all go to bed. When they are all asleep and the tv is off I get to finally relax and enjoy a show on Netflix on my laptop and drink more than a sip of soda without having to get up and get someone else something lol. That's also the time I get to read the books that I'm reviewing. So yeah, about 8:30-9:00 is my FAVORITE time of day =]

ALLLL day long in my house!! LOL

Question of the day...Smartphones!

So my fiance and I are at the mechanics shop.  My lovely accessible van's A/C has decided to die.  We're walking (yes Jenn, I'm rolling) down the street and I find our cellphone provider has a store there.  I go in, because for the last few months my phone has  been hinkey (yup, my techie term LOL), today it decides no more picture texting.  I go in whining like a good spoiled brat.  The guy feels AWFUL!  Alan says, "Honey, pick out a new phone.  Your birthday is in 4 weeks...early birthday present!"  Cool!  So, I pick this Samsung Admire, so far I love it.  Of course my first text was to Jenn, hehehe.  They gave us a discount and transfered my stuff to my new phone for free, I AM SOOO SPOILED!!!
